WINGS

All fluster and feathers, and a startled lurch upward, a bird takes off from the water. The feathers of the tip of the left wing louver together to maneuver with precision. A trailing foot skims the water and leaves a wake. Sunlight filters down through the trees. I was inspired by a photograph I took in the bird sanctuary at Brookgreen Gardens. All emphasis is on the marvel of wings and flight. Soft feathers full and round, bursting with life from the inside out. I worked quickly on my feet with long handled tools to bring a feel of energy and movement. A light patina let's the maximum amount of light bounce off the metal.
