The Architect
7” x 11”
bronze edition of 20
This sculpture is about the history of architecture and how architects
are influenced and inspired by the natural world. The chambered nautilus
is a prime example of exquisite architecture in nature. The human
skeleton itself is another perfect structure, a framework to support the
housing of the human spirit. That fact was what drove Vitruvius to
develop his formulas of proportion which are still honored today. The
aqueducts were built to work in conjunction with nature using the power
of gravity to channel water to where it can be used as the life force it
is. Even the positions of stars and planets were used extensively in
ancient architecture as a measuring tool. In the upper right hand corner
is the blueprint for the sculpture itself ....every success starts with
a good plan.
