COIN SCULPTURE PROCESS IN CLAY

This is a progressive look at a sculpture I did of the apostle Andrew for a series of 1.5” medals. I usually start with the deepest area first, then place the landmarks and work towards the shallows. The client provided the artwork drawn by a Spanish artist. The challenge was maintaining the scribble effect. The actual size of the sculpture is 8” diameter. The clay is a classic plastilina oil based clay.
